Are you grounded? It is a simple but important question that affects how you feel, how you think and how you act. Being grounded means being present and in the moment, completely aware of yourself in time and space and fully connected to the Earth, to your physical body and to your surroundings. So many people in the world are ungrounded and some have remained ungrounded for years. Their resulting thoughts, feelings and actions can be erratic, impulsive and without thought at all. If you are not grounded you may feel dizzy, light-headed or even lost, without direction. Your thoughts will be unclear and you will lose your concentration often and you will seem to others to be extremely distracted, ‘flighty’ and unreliable. Being ungrounded can also be dangerous because it can cause you to act without thinking or remembering, which can lead to dire consequences in many different situations. Being grounded and in the moment is essential if you wish to continue to make rational, important decisions that are well considered and that have the highest and best potential outcomes.
Below is a short grounding meditation for you to try.
Be seated comfortably and close your eyes. Take three, slow abdominal breaths and feel yourself relaxing. Be aware of your physical body in the chair, your feet on the floor and the sounds around you. As you breathe in for a fourth time, envision a light coming through your crown. As you breathe out, send the light straight down through your body and deep into the Earth. Breathe in and out slowly and deeply three or four more times. With every outbreath feel it go deeper, anchoring you into the Earth. As you hold this energy, concentrate on your feet. Are they tingling? Move your awareness upwards, focusing briefly on every body part. When you reach your crown you will feel relaxed, grounded and connected, ready to begin the day with awareness, clarity and renewed energy.
Blessings and love to you.
